We are pleased to inform you that the Autumn 2019 upgrade for SIMS. net and FMS will be released on the 18/11/19 and so that it can be installed via SOLUS3.

If you would like the SIMS and FMS 2019 Autumn Release before the 18/11/19, please log a call with the SCC IT Helpdesk. We will release the SIMS and FMS Release to you on SOLUS3.

Please be aware that if your SOLUS3 is set to upgrade automatically, SIMS, FMS and Discover will upgrade at 18:00 on the 18/11/19. Please make sure as many SIMS and FMS workstations are left on, to be upgraded overnight.

This will upgrade SIMS. net to version 7.190 and FMS to 6.190.

Please be aware they are no new base lookups in the release.

Remote Support Academies
We will be contact any academy who buy into Remote Support to discuss scheduling the release. This will be scheduled in SOLUS3 or a time will be arranged for a member of the SIMS support team to carry out the upgrade via SOLUS2.

Windows Server 2008\R2 and Windows 7 Pro
Please be aware that Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 Pro (32 / 64 bit) will not be supported after the Summer 2020 release. This means that the last supported release will be Spring 2020.

Once the Summer 2020 release is applied and the school’s Capita products are still on Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows 7 Pro (32 / 64 bit), Capita will no longer provide support for any of the schools Capita products. This by extension also means that SCC will not be able provide support for any of the Capita products which SCC provides support for.

Please make sure that before the Summer 2020 release is applied, that SIMS servers and workstations are not on Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows 7 Pro (32 / 64 bit).

LA Maintained Enhanced school will have received communication from the SCC Project team asking which Operating System your SIMS server and workstations are running. Please make sure that the form is completed and returned to ensure that your machines are up to date.

Capita releases and patches
Please also note if you receive SIMS or FMS releases or patches directly from Capita before we have informed you, please do not apply them and contact us immediately unless they are for bolt-on services that you have purchased such as SLG, InTouch or Partnership Xchange.

Notes regarding school who have purchased additional Capita modules

Partnership Xchange (PX)
An update to PX has been made available to ensure compatibility with the SIMS 2019 Autumn Release. PX customers should wait to apply the SIMS 2019 Autumn Release until the PX Release has been applied to their system.
InTouch
An update to the InTouch Web Server has been made available to ensure compatibility with the SIMS 2019 Autumn Release. InTouch customers should apply the SIMS 2019 Autumn Release before applying the InTouch 2019 Autumn Release.


SIMS Learning Gateway 2 (SLG2)
An update to SLG2 has been made available to ensure compatibility with the SIMS 2019 Autumn Release. Customers with self-hosted SLG2 should wait to apply the SIMS 2019 Autumn Release until the SLG2 Autumn Release has been applied to their system. We have been informed by Capita that they have already upgraded schools SLG2 that are hosted by them.
