Yes, if you insure through the council’s motor policy, otherwise you will need to check with your vehicle insurer. However, following Brexit on 31 December 2020, it is now law for drivers of UK vehicles travelling abroad in the EU to carry, in their vehicle, a Green Card. A Green Card represents an international certificate of insurance. Failure to comply could result in fines, prosecution and seizure of the vehicle. These rules apply to all vehicles including individuals planning to drive their own private vehicles abroad. If your school is insured through Suffolk County Council and required to take a vehicle abroad, please ensure a Green Card is obtained prior to travel by contacting the Insurance Team (insurance@suffolk.gov.uk). Applications should be made at least 6 weeks in advance
