We have had a few questions from Schools recently regarding the Universal Infant Free School Meal and Pupil Premium. To clarify just because KS1 children have a free school meal that doesn’t automatically mean they will be registered or eligible for Pupil Premium. Parents still have to register for the free School meal in the previous way for Schools to claim the Pupil Premium so it is important that school still promote the online registration.
The Government are aware that this could potential cause a drop in registration and therefore reduce the amount of Pupil Premium funding a school receives and is looking at an alternative method for the future. However until this is in place schools will need to continue to ask parents to register.
