The new year can be defined and opened at any time, except that no more than two years can be open at once.
FMS will always default to the most recent open year so care needs to be taken not to post entries in the wrong year. For this reason we would recommend not opening the new year until August and performing preliminary close early in September after completing any necessary year end tasks.
