Early intervention is key to ensuring that absences to do not continue. You should follow your schools sickness absence policy, which will advise you on the full process, this will include a return to work meeting on their first day back. At this point, you can discuss the reason for absence with the member of staff. Having an open and honest conversation will allow the member of staff to share any issues or problems they may be having and if anything is worked related, it is at this point that you can discuss a stress risk assessment with them. If the concerns are in their personal life, then the wellbeing number can be provided.
