In a Multi Academy Trust, the General Annual Grant (GAG) would be received by the MAT and therefore would be under the control of the directors.
A MAT has the option to ‘pool’ the GAG received by a MAT to form one central fund. This fund can then be used to meet the normal running costs at any academy within a MAT. Although this option is available, has not been used by many academy trusts to date.
