The Leave of Absence policy (issued September 2019) can be found here.  It covers requests for various types of discretionary leave including:

  • Emergency time off for dependants
  • Time off to attend a funeral and to cope with a bereavement
  • Moving house
  • To attend a job interview

It does not address absence related to ill health, which is covered by the existing Sickness Absence Management Policy.
This policy should be adopted by the school to enable you to use it in your setting.

If a school wishes to adopt different terms, be mindful that you are setting a precedent and others may expect the same time off in the same or similar situation.  For further advice, please speak to your HR Caseworker.
